One of the things related to the world of graphic design is vectors and bitmaps. Both of these image formats must be known by every graphic designer so that they can create designs with good results according to their needs and medium.
Vector and bitmap formats have differences. These vector and bitmap differences are important to know so that later when we print or move our design to another medium that is not damaged or blurred.
Before we discuss the differences between the two, we will first discuss each of the notions of vectors and bitmaps.
Vector (vector) is a digital image based on mathematical calculation equations. Vector images with good quality. One of the characteristics of vector images is that when enlarged (zoom-in) or reduced (zoom-out) is not broken or blurred. This is because vectors are images that are formed from a combination of points and lines that make up an object.
While the bitmap format (raster) is a representation of graphic images. A bitmap consists of points arranged and stored in computer memory. The value of each image point in the bitmap format is preceded by 1 data bit (in black and white) and will be of greater value if colored.
Size
When a vector format image is saved, the file size is relatively smaller compared to a bitmap image file format.
When Zoomed
The second difference as explained above is that when a vector format image is zoomed in (zoom in or out) then the image will not be broken or blurred. Unlike the bitmap format images that will break, damaged, and blur if enlarged or reduced beyond the image quality.
Arrangement
The third difference is that vector images are arranged with geometric objects and are made based on mathematical calculations. While bitmap format images are arranged in pixel-shaped objects.

Character
Gambar dengan format vektor memiliki sifat yang tidak dipengaruhi oleh resolusi, sedangkan gambar berformat bitmap sifatnya dipengaruhi oleh resolusi.
Useful
The last difference is the use of vectors and bitmaps. Vector images are usually used for illustration designs, for example logo designs. While images with the bitmap format are used for images with a variety of colors. An example is a photo.
May be useful. 🙂
